Abinsula is one of the main European players in Embedded, IoT, Web and Mobile solutions. The focus is on the development of embedded computers and communications equipment, with people with more than ten years of experience. The company was established in 2012 and is based in Sassari, Cagliari, Torino (Italy) and Barcellona (Spain). The core offerings are: Turn-key electronics and embedded software design services. Abinsula provides extensive experience on common embedded technologies (WLAN (a/b/g), Bluetooth, GSM/GPRS/UMTS, Ethernet, POE, xDSL, RFID, GPS, ZigBee and LoRa and mobile application for Android, iOS and other smart devices). Abinsula is constantly looking for new technologies to upgrade its competence to meet forthcoming requirements. Abinsula, within Techcare as technical partner of the project, supports the activities for the Italian Pilot creating technical solutions for an accessible database of information using IoT technologies. Abinsula supports the activities related to IoT technologies, starting from new sensors and pre-existing equipments to an informative data platform where the farmer can analyze data and receive alerts on livestock wellness and level of production. Short profile of the team involved in the TechCare project:
Antonio Solinas, Abinsula R&D Director, graduated in Electronic Engineering in 1999. After graduation, he was an official of the Engineers of the Air Force, as head of the avionics section of the DTL Eurofighter 2000. He has been employed in various ICT companies where he gained internationally recognized experience in the design of electronic systems for the automotive, avionics and home automation world. He has been the coordinator of several European, national and regional projects. He was a lecturer in the courses of Real-Time Systems for Multimedia Applications, Telecommunications Engineering and Cyber-Physical Systems at the University of Cagliari, and a member of the technical committee of the IFAC International Federation of Automatic Control. Since 2013 he has been the Research and Development Director of Abinsula, and his main activities are to find and identify new technological investment areas. Furthermore, he is one of the founders of some start-ups in the sharing economy, Internet of Things and Precision Agriculture (Greenshare, Lifely and Agreetech) sectors. Within TechCare, Antonio represents the figure of the program manager of Abinsula activities within the project.
Francesco Martini is a junior project manager with education in Vehicle Engineering and a master’s degree in energy networks based on renewables. In Abinsula he is responsible for the progress of part of the Research and Development projects based on IoT applications and web platforms in the Agri-tech, Smart-Farming and Smart-City sectors. He has experience in innovation and development of industrial solutions: in the automotive field, he has gained experience in the management of production problems and the design of systems through multi-physics simulation, at companies such as Ferrari and Piaggio. Within TechCare, Francesco represents the figure of the project manager of Abinsula activities, supporting the implementation of IoT technologies.
Marco Stocchino is Abinsula’s IoT and Industry 4.0 area manager and a graduate in Electronic Engineering. In 2004 he joined the staff of Softphobia as a software developer. From 2004 to 2013 he worked for Akhela on the development of embedded Linux systems with verticalization on VOIP, home automation and automotive. From 2009 to 2013 he coordinated a team to develop systems for managing USB devices in cars and interfacing smartphones with cars. In 2013 he joined Abinsula where he scouts, trains and coordinates software development teams. He coordinates the development of innovative products based on custom HW design for IoT technologies, with applications for smart metering, home automation, and Industry 4.0. Follows the creation of a new turnkey service offering that accompanies the customer throughout the entire development cycle of a new product. As part of the TechCare project, he is responsible for the design and implementation of IoT technologies for precision agriculture.
Nicasia Scuderi is a software developer with expertise in embedded and IoT. She graduated in Electronic Engineering from the University of Cagliari in 2020, focusing her activities on the Agrumino hardware board developed internally at Abinsula Group for Precision Agriculture. He has been working at Abinsula since 2021, gaining experience in the development of IoT systems in Industry 4.0 and embedded systems for the automotive sector. In the Techcare project, she is in charge of implementing software procedures for data acquisition from machinery and IoT systems and was responsible for implementing the IoT platform user interface for project partner Agris.
Stefania Demurtas is a software developer with experience in embedded and web applications. She graduated in Philosophy from the University of Rome in 2004 and has been working in Abinsula S.r.l. since 2016. She deals with the design and development of embedded applications in the Autosar environment, using languages such as C, Python, Javascript and PHP, and frameworks such as Django, Drupal, WordPress and React. She has experience in web and mobile application development, contributing to projects such as managing university maintenance and waste requests at the municipal level.
