The CNBL (National Committee for Dairy Sheep), an association created in 1991, is the technical national representative body for the organizations involved in the French dairy sheep value chain. The membership brings together 34 members (private bodies), including the breeding cooperatives and associations of the 5 local dairy sheep breeds, milk recording and extension services, agriculture chambers and high schools located in the areas where dairy sheep are raised and inter-branch organizations. CNBL acts as a representative body and a technical forum for sheep dairy farmers, working with research institutes like INRAE and Institut de l’Elevage (Idele). As a technical partner in the TechCare project, CNBL supports large-scale experiments (WP5) in Aveyron (France), monitoring 11 dairy sheep farms including the pilot farm La Cazotte at Saint- Affrique. CNBL leads the large scales (LS) with its third parties Service Elevage de la Confederation Generale de Roquefort (SE CGR) and UNOTEC. The CNBL hired Noémie Litalien in February 2024 to manage the LS protocol. With its partners, CNBL contributes to the various developments for using electronic milk-meters in dairy sheep, milk-meter on farm or other device like Lactocorder-Sheep and Goat.
