Integrating innovative TECHnologies along the value Chain to improve small ruminant welfARE management

TechCare’s People: Anne Aupiais!

Hi! My name is Anne. I am Doctor from the University of Rennes (France, Ille et Vilaine) in ethology and I have led projects on welfare and behavior of ruminants and equines at the French Livestock Institute since 1999 (welfare and health team). Previously, I worked on transport and slaughter of ruminants, I am now more specialized in the welfare of these animals during breeding. I am involved in the development of welfare assessment tools and protocols on the behavior of ruminants. At the national level, I lead the CMOUBIENE project on the development of a tool for assessing and managing the welfare of small ruminants in livestock farming. I provide training on the welfare and behavior of ruminants, on dehorning calves and pain management, on handling and restraint of cattle. In the TechCare project, I am involved in WP2 for the characterization and prioritization of small ruminant welfare indicators.
